Context
MercadoLibre needed to optimize the user flow that allows account holders to assign beneficiaries in the event of their death. This feature ensures that, should the account holder pass away, their funds can be claimed by one or more previously designated individuals based on assigned percentages. The challenge: to make the experience simple, clear, and emotionally responsible.

Analysis
We conducted interviews with business stakeholders and legal teams to fully understand the technical and emotional requirements of the experience. The key insight: this flow needed to be serious, secure, and transparent — one that stores beneficiary data persistently and allows those beneficiaries to legitimately access the funds when the time comes.

Design Proposal
sing MercadoLibre’s Andes design system as a foundation, we built an intuitive and visually transparent experience:
We implemented a dynamic pie chart to visually represent how the funds are being distributed among beneficiaries.
Users could easily enter and edit each beneficiary’s basic information (name, relationship, percentage).
We gave users constant visibility of the total distributed amount, with built-in validations to prevent errors (e.g., exceeding 100%).
The design was responsive, adapting seamlessly across desktop and mobile platforms, while maintaining full consistency with MercadoLibre’s visual ecosystem.

Result
The rebranded company experienced increased customer engagement, a boost in sales, and a stronger brand presence in the market.
The comprehensive initiative, extending beyond visual changes, resonated authentically with the audience, resulting in heightened engagement metrics and a tangible boost in sales. The company now stands on a more robust foundation, embodying a stronger and more compelling brand presence, setting the stage for continued success in the competitive market.
